Welcome to Martha's House

Martha's House, Inc. is a twenty-eight bed emergency shelter providing temporary housing for residents of Monroe, Lawrence, and Owen counties experiencing homelessness. Individuals not living in these counties can stay up to 10 days, while the staff help them find temporary shelter in or near their home community.

In addition to providing for basic needs of housing, food, clothing, and personal hygiene, the shelter offers case management designed to support residents as they identify their needs and develop strategies to stabilize their lives. This case management includes job coaching, money management, and assistance in identifying local resources and housing options. Because many of the residents staying in shelter work, case management meetings are offered during the afternoon and evening to eliminate possible schedule conflicts that could disrupt work commitments and compromise residents' employment.
